Performance Presets
What it does
Performance Presets apply a ready-made mix of Nitro options so you do not have to configure every toggle from scratch.
Presets do not change minify queues, custom Delay JS exclusions, Defer Video globals, or legacy background ID slots.

Starts at 8:30 in the Divi Nitro 5.0 walkthrough.
Where to find it
Divi Engine → Nitro Settings → Performance Presets
This section uses Apply on each card (no shared Save footer).
What each preset turns on
All three presets enable browser/.htaccess rules, Smart Image Loading (protect first image), and Database Cleanup types (revisions, auto-drafts, trash, spam, transients, optimize). Weekly DB schedule stays off except on Aggressive.
| Area | Safe | Balanced | Aggressive |
|---|---|---|---|
| Page Cache | Off | Smart, unless another HTML cache is active | Same as Balanced |
| Delay JavaScript | Off | On, 5 second timeout | On, 3 second timeout |
| Asynchronous CSS | Off | On, exclude Woo CSS | On, exclude Woo CSS |
| Lazy Section Backgrounds | Off | On | On |
| Lazy Rendering | Off | Off | On (1800px) |
| Speculative Loading | Off | Prefetch, moderate | Prerender, eager |
| Fonts | Swap + Google preconnect | + YouTube preconnect | + Vimeo preconnect |

| Weekly database schedule | Off | Off | On |
How to use
- Open Nitro Settings.
- Start with Safe if you are unsure, or Balanced on a staging copy.
- Clear caches and test key pages logged out.
- Move up only if the site stays stable.
- Fine-tune individual features afterward.
If LiteSpeed, WP Rocket, WP-Optimize, or another HTML cache is active, presets skip enabling Nitro Page Cache. See Working with other performance plugins.
