Global Settings

Purpose

The Global Settings page provides centralized configuration for all Divi Handoff-enabled pages. Changes here apply as defaults across your entire site, giving you consistent control over page layout, visibility, and behavior.

Access global settings from Divi Engine → Divi Handoff in your WordPress admin menu.

Settings Location

Navigate to Divi Engine → Divi Handoff in your WordPress admin sidebar to access all global settings.

The settings are organized into five sections:

  • General — Header, footer, content visibility, and layout width
  • User Permissions — Control which roles can edit page content
  • Sidebar — Sidebar position and widget visibility
  • Layout Injection — Inject Divi layouts at specific positions
  • Help & Demo — Documentation and demo content import

General Settings

Control the overall appearance and layout of pages using Divi Handoff.

SettingTypeDefaultDescription
Hide HeaderToggleOffHides the theme header on all Divi Handoff-enabled pages. Useful for landing pages, focused templates, or fullscreen designs.
Hide FooterToggleOffHides the theme footer on all Divi Handoff-enabled pages. Creates page layouts without copyright links or additional navigation.
Show Page ContentToggleOffControls whether the main WordPress content editor content displays. When disabled, only SCF/ACF Flexible Content layouts render.
Page Content PositionSelectBeforeDetermines where main page content appears relative to SCF/ACF layouts. Options: Before SCF/ACF Layout Content, After SCF/ACF Layout Content. Only applies when Show Page Content is enabled.
Full Width ContainerToggleOffExtends the content area to the full browser width, removing side margins for an edge-to-edge layout.

When to Use These Settings

  • Hide Header/Footer: Landing pages, sales pages, or focused content where navigation distracts
  • Show Page Content: When you want both standard WordPress content and Flexible Content layouts
  • Full Width Container: Hero sections, full-bleed images, or modern edge-to-edge designs

User Permissions

Control which user roles can access and edit the Page Content Editor on Divi Handoff pages.

SettingTypeDescription
User Roles with Page Content AccessCheckboxesSelect which user roles can access and edit the main Page Content Editor. Users without access can still add, remove, and edit SCF/ACF Flexible Content layouts.

How User Permissions Work

This feature is designed for client handoffs:

  1. With Access: Selected roles see the full Page Content Editor and can edit both standard content and Flexible Content layouts
  2. Without Access: Users can still add, remove, and edit SCF/ACF Flexible Content layouts, but cannot modify the main page content

Common Use Cases

  • Client Sites: Restrict clients to only editing Flexible Content, keeping the page structure intact
  • Content Teams: Allow content editors to update flexible layouts without touching core page elements
  • Multi-Author Sites: Different access levels for different team members

Configure sidebar behavior for pages that have the sidebar enabled.

SettingTypeDefaultDescription
Sidebar PositionSelectRightChoose whether the sidebar appears on the left or right side of the main content area.
Show Sidebar WidgetsToggleOffDisplays default WordPress sidebar widgets. When disabled, no widgets show, but you can still inject Divi layouts using Layout Injection.

Working with Sidebars

Sidebars are controlled at two levels:

  1. Page Level: Enable/disable sidebar per page in the Divi Handoff Settings meta box
  2. Global Level: These settings control behavior when sidebars are enabled
tip

Disable Show Sidebar Widgets and use Layout Injection to create custom Divi-designed sidebars instead of standard WordPress widgets.

Layout Injection

Inject pre-built Divi layouts at specific positions on Divi Handoff pages. This allows you to add consistent design elements without editing each page individually.

Main Content Area

SettingTypeDescription
Layout Before SCF/ACF ContentSelectChoose a Divi layout to appear above your SCF/ACF Flexible Content layouts. Great for banners or introduction sections.
Layout After SCF/ACF ContentSelectChoose a Divi layout to appear below your SCF/ACF Flexible Content layouts. Useful for calls-to-action, contact forms, or footer content.
SettingTypeDescription
Layout Before Sidebar WidgetsSelectChoose a Divi layout to appear above sidebar widgets. Only visible on pages with the sidebar enabled.
Layout After Sidebar WidgetsSelectChoose a Divi layout to appear below sidebar widgets. Only visible on pages with the sidebar enabled.

Layout Injection Use Cases

  • Consistent Headers: Add a promotional banner above all Flexible Content
  • Footer CTAs: Add a contact form or call-to-action below all page layouts
  • Sidebar Branding: Add a custom logo or navigation above sidebar widgets
  • Related Content: Add a "Related Posts" section after main content

How to Create Layouts for Injection

  1. Go to Divi → Divi Library
  2. Create a new layout
  3. Design your section (banner, CTA, sidebar content, etc.)
  4. Save and publish
  5. Return to Divi Engine → Divi Handoff and select your layout
note

Layout injection uses layouts from the Divi Library, not Divi Handoff Layouts. This keeps injected content separate from your Flexible Content templates.

Settings Hierarchy

Divi Handoff settings follow a hierarchy where page-level settings can override global defaults:

Global Settings (Divi Engine → Divi Handoff)

Page Settings (Divi Handoff Settings meta box on each page)

Final Output
  • Global settings apply to all Divi Handoff-enabled pages
  • Page settings override global settings for that specific page
  • Some settings (like Layout Injection) only exist at the global level
