Layouts Not Displaying

Symptom

Flexible Content layouts don't appear on the page. The page may show blank content, only the default page content, or nothing at all where the layouts should render.

Applies To

  • Divi 5.x
  • WordPress 6.4 - 6.5
  • Divi Handoff 1.0.0

Likely Causes

  1. "Enable Divi Handoff" not checked on page - The page-level toggle is off
  2. No Divi Handoff Layout mapped - The layout isn't connected to an SCF/ACF layout
  3. Layout not selected in Flexible Content row - Individual rows need a layout assigned
  4. Divi Handoff Layout not published - Draft or private layouts won't render

Fix

Step 1: Enable Divi Handoff on the page

  1. Edit the page in WordPress (not Divi Builder)
  2. Scroll to the Divi Handoff Settings meta box
  3. Check Enable Divi Handoff on this page
  4. Update the page
tip

This is the most common cause. The toggle must be enabled for any Handoff layouts to render.

Step 2: Verify the Divi Handoff Layout exists and is mapped

  1. Go to Divi Handoff Layouts in the admin menu
  2. Find the layout you want to use
  3. Click Edit
  4. Look for the Layout Mapping meta box
  5. Ensure an SCF/ACF Flexible Content layout is selected
  6. If no layout is selected, choose the correct one from the dropdown
  7. Publish or Update the layout

Step 3: Select the layout in each Flexible Content row

  1. Edit the page in WordPress
  2. Find the Flexible Content field area
  3. For each row (layout) you've added:
    • Look for the Divi Handoff Layout dropdown
    • Select which Divi Handoff Layout should render this row
  4. Update the page
note

Each Flexible Content row can use a different Divi Handoff Layout. If no layout is selected for a row, it won't display.

Step 4: Ensure all layouts are published

  1. Go to Divi Handoff Layouts
  2. Check the Status column
  3. Any layouts showing "Draft" or "Private" won't render
  4. Edit and Publish any unpublished layouts

Step 5: Check for conflicting settings

If layouts still don't appear:

  1. Edit the page
  2. In Divi Handoff Settings, check Show Page Content
  3. Check Page Content Position - ensure it's set appropriately
  4. Verify Hide Header and Hide Footer aren't causing display issues

Verify

After making changes:

  1. View the page on the frontend (not preview)
  2. Clear any caching plugins
  3. Hard refresh your browser (Ctrl+F5 or Cmd+Shift+R)
  4. The Flexible Content layouts should now display
