Prepare Website
Follow these guidelines before turning on aggressive Nitro options.
Choose one page cache
Use only one full-page HTML cache:
- LiteSpeed / WP Rocket / WP-Optimize already caching pages? Keep that page cache and leave Nitro Page Cache off. Use Nitro for Divi-focused tools.
- Prefer Nitro Page Cache (especially with Ajax Filter, Protect, Membership, Form Builder)? Turn off the other plugin’s page cache first, then enable Nitro Page Cache.
Details: Working with other performance plugins.
warning
Do not stack Nitro Page Cache with another HTML page cache. Cloudflare as a CDN is fine; Cloudflare APO counts as another HTML cache.
Reduce conflicts
- Limit overlapping optimize features (minify, delay JS, lazy images) to one plugin.
- During setup, disable non-essential plugins temporarily if you need a clean test.
- Remove redundant custom CSS that fights Divi or Nitro.
- Use a host with backups (for example Cloudways or your preferred managed host).
Divi Theme Options
- Divi → Theme Options → Builder → Advanced — consider disabling Static CSS File Generation while actively building (re-enable later if you use it).
- Turn off Divi’s own overlapping performance options for jQuery, CSS, JS, and dynamic modules if Nitro (or another optimize plugin) already handles them.
- Go to Settings → Permalinks → Save twice after major Nitro or permalink-related changes.
Recommended first path
- Install Nitro and license it
- Open Performance Insights
- Apply the Safe or Balanced preset
- Test key pages logged out
- If something breaks, use Nitro broke my site
