Managing Content Restriction Design

Introduction

With your membership plan in place, customize what visitors without access see. Configure these options at Divi Engine → Divi Membership → Content Restriction.

Access Content Restriction Settings

  1. Open Divi Engine → Divi Membership → Content Restriction.
  2. Select any Roles that can view all content. Administrator is selected by default.
  3. Configure each of the three tabs below, then save.

Understand the Settings

Content restriction behaviour depends on the template that displays the protected post. You can show a message, select a Divi Library layout, or expose a limited preview.

Single Post Page (Theme Builder)

For posts displayed by a Theme Builder template:

  • Set Post title to show the real title, hide it, or replace it with custom text.
  • Set Replace post body with to a message, a Divi Library layout, or Show Content from Theme Builder.
  • When showing Theme Builder content, use module conditions to control the individual modules that each membership may see.

Single Post Page (Default Template)

For posts using the standard WordPress/Divi template:

  • Choose the title treatment and whether visitors see post meta and the featured image.
  • Replace the body with a message, Divi layout, or an excerpt/truncated preview.
  • For an excerpt, set its character length and optionally place a linked message or Divi layout after it.

Archive Page / Loop Settings

For blog, category, related-post, Ajax Filter, and Divi Machine loops:

  • Turn Show protected posts in lists off to omit them completely.
  • When it is on, control their title, meta, featured image, and replacement message or layout.
  • Configure the separate loop-module choice for Ajax Filter and Divi Machine custom loops.

Verify the result

  1. Open a protected item while logged out and confirm the replacement appears without leaking protected content.
  2. Log in as a member whose plan grants access and confirm the complete content appears.
  3. Log in as a member without access and confirm the restricted view still appears.
  4. Check the single post, an archive/list, and mobile layout. Clear page/server/CDN caches if an old state remains.

Additional Tips

  1. Clear communication — Ensure messages for restricted content explain why access is limited and how to gain access.
  2. Consistent branding — Use Divi layouts that match your site’s branding for restricted content messages.
  3. Test user experiences — Test logged-out, entitled, and non-entitled visitors whenever access rules change.
tip

Always save your settings before moving to the next configuration step to avoid losing changes.
