Choosing Post Types for Content Restriction

Introduction

First choose which post types can participate in membership access rules. This setting is separate from Content Restriction, which controls what a visitor without access sees.

Choose the post types

  1. Go to Divi Engine → Divi Membership → General.
  2. Under the Post Types for Membership Access heading, tick Enabled Post Types for every post type that plans should be able to unlock. Public custom post types appear automatically; WooCommerce products appear when WooCommerce is active.
  3. Save the settings.
note

The plan editor treats Posts as the fallback when the saved list is empty, but you should explicitly select the intended post types before building access rules.

Assign content to a plan

  1. Go to Divi Membership → Memberships and open a plan.
  2. Open the Access tab. The selected post types, and their taxonomies, are now available as the Type on each Content rule.
  3. Leave Title set to All to unlock the whole type, or search for specific posts, pages, or terms. Use Add content rule for another rule.
  4. Click Save membership.

Configure the visitor experience

Go to Divi Engine → Divi Membership → Content Restriction to choose whether protected posts appear in archives and whether a visitor without access sees a message, Divi layout, excerpt, or other replacement. See Content Restriction.

Additional Tips

  1. Be strategic — Choose post types that align with your business goals (e.g. courses or tutorials if you sell educational content).
  2. Test configurations — Check one selected and one unselected post type while logged out, as a member with access, and as a member without access.
  3. Feedback and adjustments — Gather user feedback and adjust your setup as needed.
tip

Always save your settings before moving to the next configuration step to avoid losing changes.
