Taxonomy term logic
Overview
Taxonomy term logic determines how multiple selected taxonomy terms influence loop results. By switching between AND and OR modes, you can control whether results must match all selected terms or any of them. This feature allows you to:
- Build narrow, topic-specific collections that meet multiple taxonomy conditions.
- Create broader feeds that include content from multiple relevant terms.
- Fine-tune product or post listings where overlapping taxonomies affect visibility.
This logic applies to categories, tags, and custom taxonomies, and works across post types supported by the Divi 5 Loop Builder.
Where to find it
- Open the Divi 5 builder and select the parent container using the Loop Element.
- Expand the Loop accordion to reveal Divi Loop Extender options.
- Select multiple terms to include.
- Use the Logic mode dropdown to choose between AND or OR.
If you are filtering by multiple taxonomy types (for example, Categories and Tags), the term logic applies within each selected taxonomy type.
Example configurations
Narrow collection (AND)
Create a collection that displays posts that belong to both “Featured” and “Video” tags.
This ensures only posts matching all criteria appear in the loop.
Broad campaign (OR)
Display WooCommerce products that fall into either “Sale” or “Clearance” categories.
Use this when you want to expand the loop to any matching condition.
Hybrid logic with filters
Combine taxonomy logic with other Divi Loop Extender filters:
- Use Post status filtering to show only Published posts.
- Apply Date field filters to target seasonal campaigns.
- Combine with Author filter for editorial control.
