Performance Presets
What it does
Performance Presets apply a ready-made mix of Nitro options so you do not have to configure every toggle from scratch.

Preset comparison
| Preset | Intent | Page Cache |
|---|---|---|
| Safe | Minimal risk starting point | Leaves Page Cache off |
| Balanced | Strong default for most sites | Turns on anonymous Page Cache unless another cache plugin is active |
| Aggressive | Maximum Nitro performance features | Same Page Cache rule as Balanced; may include Lazy Rendering and stricter loading options |
Your custom exclusions, minify queues, and video preferences are left alone when a preset is applied.
How to use
- Open Nitro Settings.
- Start with Safe if you are unsure, or Balanced on a staging copy.
- Clear caches and test key pages logged out.
- Move up only if the site stays stable.
- Fine-tune individual features afterward.
warning
If LiteSpeed, WP Rocket, WP-Optimize, or another HTML cache is active, presets skip enabling Nitro Page Cache. That is intentional — see Working with other performance plugins.
