License not activating or notice persists
Symptom
The license key does not activate, or an activation or "license invalid" notice keeps appearing even after entering the key. You may have entered the key in an old location that is no longer used.
Applies To
- Divi Membership 2.0.x
- Any WordPress environment
Likely Causes
- Key entered in the wrong place — The license is set in Divi Engine → License (all Divi Engine product licenses are there), not on a separate legacy license page.
- Invalid or already-used key — Key may be mistyped, expired, or used on another site beyond the license limit.
- Cached license state — The plugin or server may be caching an old "unlicensed" or failed state.
Fix
Step 1: Add the key in the correct place
- Go to WordPress Admin → Divi Engine → License.
- Find Divi Membership and paste your license key from your Divi Engine account: Orders → Manage License → generate or copy key.
- Click Activate or Save. Wait for the success message.
warning
Do not use an old "license settings" or separate license page that may still exist in the menu. The correct place is Divi Engine → License (where all Divi Engine product licenses are managed).
Step 2: Confirm key and account
- Log in to your Divi Engine account and go to Orders (or equivalent).
- Find your Divi Membership license and use Manage License to view or regenerate the key.
- Ensure the key is for Divi Membership and that the license is active and not exceeded (e.g. site limit).
- Copy the key again (no spaces at start/end) and paste it into Divi Engine → License (Divi Membership section), then save.
Step 3: Clear cached license state
- Deactivate the Divi Membership plugin (Plugins → Installed Plugins).
- Reactivate the plugin.
- Go to Divi Engine → License and enter the key again, then activate/save.
- If you use a caching plugin or object cache, clear the cache and optionally disable cache for the admin area while testing.
Verify
- In Divi Engine → License, the Divi Membership status should show as active (e.g. "License active" or similar).
- Any previous "license invalid" or activation notice in the admin should disappear after a refresh.

- Whether you see any on-screen error when clicking Activate (e.g. "invalid key", "limit exceeded").
- Your Divi Membership version and WordPress version.
- Whether the license is used on other sites and how many sites your license allows.
