Choosing Post Types for Content Restriction

Introduction

When setting up a membership site with Divi Membership, decide which content (post types) should be controlled by membership restrictions. This step tailors your site to your content access needs. Configuration is done in Divi Membership → Settings → Content Restriction.

Access Content Restriction Settings

  1. Log into your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Go to Divi Membership → Settings (the React-based settings UI).
  3. Open the Content Restriction section in the sidebar.

Select Post Types

  1. In Content Restriction, find the area that lists post types for membership access. You will see posts, pages, and any custom post types on your site.
  2. Decide which post types Divi Membership should control and which content should be exclusive to certain membership levels.
  3. Set the toggles to Enabled for each post type you want managed by membership restrictions.
note

On first install, Posts are enabled by default. If no post types are enabled, the plugin shows a clear notice so you can configure them.

Save Changes

After selecting the desired post types, click Save at the bottom of the settings page.

Next Step: Create Membership Plans

Once post types are configured, create your membership plans and define what content each plan can access.

Additional Tips

  1. Be strategic — Choose post types that align with your business goals (e.g. courses or tutorials if you sell educational content).
  2. Test configurations — After setup, test different membership scenarios to ensure content access controls work as expected.
  3. Feedback and adjustments — Gather user feedback and adjust your setup as needed.
tip

Always save your settings before moving to the next configuration step to avoid losing changes.
