Managing Content Restriction Design

Introduction

With your membership plan in place, the next step is to customize how restricted content appears. This ensures a consistent experience for members and non-members. Configure these options in Divi Membership → Settings → Content Restriction.

Access Content Restriction Settings

  1. From your WordPress dashboard, go to Divi Membership → Settings.
  2. Open the Content Restriction section to access settings for content visibility and restrictions.

Understand the Settings

Content restriction behaviour depends on whether you use the Theme Builder or the default template. You can show a plain text message, a Divi layout from the library, or delegate to Conditions defined on modules in your layout. For module conditions, see Module conditions.

Single Post Page (Theme Builder)

For layouts built in the Divi Theme Builder:

  • Choose whether to show or hide post title and post content for restricted posts.
  • Choose how restricted content is represented: plain text message, Divi layout from the library, or module conditions.

Single Post Page (Default Template)

For posts using Divi's default post layout:

  • Adjust settings to control how restricted content is displayed when no custom Theme Builder design is applied.

Archive Page / Loop Settings

For archive pages or modules (e.g. Blog module) that display multiple posts:

  • Set how restricted content appears inside archives or loops.
  • Options are similar to single post pages for consistent behaviour across the site.

Additional Tips

  1. Clear communication — Ensure messages for restricted content explain why access is limited and how to gain access.
  2. Consistent branding — Use Divi layouts that match your site’s branding for restricted content messages.
  3. Test user experiences — Regularly test different access scenarios so members and non-members see the right content.
tip

Always save your settings before moving to the next configuration step to avoid losing changes.
