Notifications

Divi 5

The notification list and the user icon are Divi 5 modules. The on/off switch is in plugin settings on both Divi 5 and Divi 4.

Notifications tell a logged-in member that something happened, such as a new message or a new match for a saved search. They can appear in the account area, in a header dropdown, and by email.

They stay off until you turn them on. The Notifications account post can stay published. It does not appear in the menu, and its URL stays closed, until the feature is on.

Turn notifications on

  1. Go to Divi Engine > Divi Machine Account > Notifications.
  2. Turn on Enable notifications.
  3. Leave Send notification emails on if members should also get an email.
  4. Set From name and From email if you do not want the site name and admin email.
  5. Open the Email tab to change the fallback subject and message. Search alerts and new messages use their own email.
  6. Save.

Full field notes are on Notification settings.

Show the list in the account area

Activation already places Acc Notifications on the Notifications account post.

  1. Open Account > Notifications > Edit with Divi.
  2. Confirm Acc Notifications.
  3. Set how many items appear on a page, the empty text, and the Mark all as read label.
  4. Save, then open the account area while logged in. Notifications should be in the menu.

Module reference: Acc Notifications.

Add the header icon

  1. Edit the header in the Visual Builder.
  2. Add Acc User Icon from Divi Machine Accounts.
  3. Set Placement to Inside the Divi Menu or In this column.
  4. Leave Show notification count on if the icon should show the unread number.
  5. Save and view the header logged in and logged out. Logged-out visitors see Sign in unless you turn that off.

Module reference: Acc User Icon.

Show the unread count on the account menu

  1. Edit the Navigation account post.
  2. Select Acc Navigation.
  3. Turn on Show notification count.
  4. Set Notification count item to Notifications, or another account page.
  5. Style the badge under Design > Notification count.

The count only appears when notifications are on.

What's next

  • Messages — A new message creates a notification when both features are on.
  • Search alerts — A new match creates a notification and an email.
